Anna - Travel Manager

Having grown up in southern Africa , Anna's passion for travel and wildlife started at an unusually young age. She took her first overseas trip before she was one, and hasn't stayed still since!

Since studying hospitality and tourism at the University of Queensland , Anna has been involved in various aspects of the tourism industry all of her working life. She has over twelve years' experience as a travel consultant, including four years as the manager of her own agency. Anna joined the Australia Zoo Travel team in May 2006.

Most memorable holiday experience: Camping with the Bushmen in the Kalahari Desert.

Worst holiday experience: Busting my knee while skiing in Canada and having to spend the second half of my holiday on the couch.

Favourite holiday activity: Definitely skiing - on snow, that is!

Favourite city: Vienna , Austria

Favourite country: Hard to say! Probably either Austria or Egypt, or maybe Canada...

Previous travels include: Every continent except Antarctica - but give me time, and I'll check that off, too!

Last trip away: Skiing in Niseko, Japan - WOW!  What an amazing place - so much snow, and a fabulous cultural experience as well!

Next destination: Melbourne for 'Wicked - The Musical' in July

Wish List: Macchu Pichu, Peru; Crested Butte, Colorado, USA; Rome and Siena, Italy.

Bec - Travel Consultant

Bec began working at Australia Zoo in February 2007. Bec loves working in the travel industry, helping people plan their next exciting holiday. She also enjoys hanging out with some of the amazing animals at the Zoo, where at any moment you could see a wombat stroll through the office, or a tiger out for a morning walk!

Most Memorable holiday experience:
Paris. It really is an amazing city and seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night is something special!

Worst holiday experience :
I always seem to run out of money!

Favourite holiday activity:
Definitely surfing in Hawaii on Waikiki Beach.

Favourite city:
Prague- Czech Republic. It is an unbelievable city. The buildings, bridges and churches are so beautiful you can’t believe your eyes.

Favourite country:
Australia! We have surf, reef, snow, desert, rainforest… we really do live in the most amazing country.

Previous travels include:
I have visited: Holland, France, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, England, Hawaii, Bali, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, and of course many great places in Australia.

Last trip away:
I just returned from Hong Kong, It was amazing with the Buildings, Beaches, Markets, The largest sitting Bronze Buddah in the world and i cant forget Hong Kong Disneyland it's always a blast seeing Mickey Mouse and his mates! And also seeing my first Giant Panda that was very special.

Next destination: 
I'm not sure where i am heading to next but i am sure it will be a fun adventure where ever it may be.

Fran started working at Australia Zoo Travel in October 2007, joining the team with 5 years experience in the travel industry.

Most memorable holiday experience: Game driving in the eastern cape of South Africa.  Such a beautiful part of the world, with amazing animals at every turn!

Worst holiday experience: Becoming close friends with a boundary fence on the ski slopes in NZ … twice! Luckily I didn't hurt myself enough to stop me bungee jumping the next day!

Favourite holiday activity: Heading out and exploring the sights and sounds of the town or city I happen to be in.

Favourite city: Just one?!  Vancouver, NYC, Chicago, Ho Chi Minh City ...and Catalina Island off the coast of California is just fantastic!

Favourite country:  Can't narrow it down to one!  New Zealand, Canada, Italy and South Africa.

Previous travels include: Sicily, Cairns, Daydream Island, Ayers Rock, Bali, New Zealand, Melbourne, Canada, USA, Vietnam, South Africa, Mauritius.

Last trip away: South Africa and Mauritius in March 2010 - fabulous!

Next destination: South America in March 2011!!

Wish list: Macchu Picchu in Peru and the rest of South America, Europe, Antarctica and basically anywhere else I can travel to!

Rebecca - Travel Consultant
Bec joined the Australia Zoo crew back in September 2006. She gained experience in the Admissions, Information/Tour Desk, Group Bookings and Reception departments before landing her dream role in Australia Zoo Travel. Bec loves coming to work in such a friendly and fun environment and appreciates the surroundings of our beautiful grounds and animals. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her staffy pups, going to the beach, yoga, listening to music and travelling.

Most memorable experience: There are so many to choose from (and hopefully plenty more to come)! Climbing the Eiffel tower in Paris at sunset and being at the top for the light show is a highlight as well as playing with the orangutans in Bali and the reef snorkelling/diving in Thailand.

Worst holiday experience: Having my Europe trip postponed for 2 months due to volcanic ash (the night before I was supposed to leave) was really disappointing.

Favourite holiday activity: I really enjoy immersing myself in the local cultures of every place that I visit - there is nothing better than a day of exploring, shopping, eating delicious meals and then experiencing the nightlife.

Favourite city: Barcelona in Spain - the history, people, architecture, food, beaches, nightlife and relaxed lifestyle made this city very memorable. Also love Sydney, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome.

Favourite country: Definitely Australia! Travelling abroad makes you appreciate just how lucky we are in our own country, especially here on the Sunshine Coast with our beautiful hinterland and beaches. Although, I definitely think that Australia could benefit from following Spain's lead and implementing afternoon siesta time!

Previous travels include: New South Wales, Melbourne, Thailand, Bali, Netherlands, England, France, Spain, Monaco, Vatican City, Italy and Greece.

Last trip away: A month in Europe in June 2010.

Next destination:  Hoping to visit the USA and travel down the coast through Central and South America in the near future.

Wish list: It just keeps growing! I can't wait to do a roadtrip around Australia and then eventually I would love to explore every continent of the world starting with Africa.

Sarah - Travel Consultant

Sarah started working at Australia Zoo in October 2006. Sarah loves all the animals here at Australia Zoo she does have a particular soft spot for the Tigers, Cheetahs and the cheeky Wombats. Sarah Describes her job as the ultimate dream job animals and travel (what more could you want.)

Next destination: Back to Vietnam in March and hopefully Africa in October 2009
